Moubray Street Precinct Redevelopment
Posted 05 November 2011Celebrating 150 years of education
In 2016 Wesley College will celebrate its 150th year. As we approach this significant milestone, the College is embarking on the most substantial redevelopment of the St Kilda Road campus since it was rebuilt by the Nicholas brothers during the 1930s. This project represents the largest single capital expenditure in the College’s history and requires the full support of the College community to ensure its success. The Wesley College Foundation has launched a capital fundraising campaign, the Sesquicentenary Gift Campaign, to raise vital funds to help realise the full vision of this historic redevelopment. The new and refurbished facilities will ensure Wesley remains at the forefront of education both nationally and internationally. |

A refurbished Menzies Wing - Cost $3.5m |
The planned redevelopment of the Menzies Wing is based on the College’s holistic view of middle schooling and the desire to create appropriate, inspiring and flexible learning environments for each year level. Featuring expanded learning spaces, a new reception area and a covered amphitheatre for student performances, these changes will provide shared recreational, social and community spaces within the Middle School and further support the powerful continuum with regard to educational and pastoral care. |
A new Music School - Cost $21.5m |
The current Music School will be demolished and a four storey state of the art facility constructed. This will include substantial band rehearsal and recital spaces, studios for tuition, a music laboratory, multi-purpose classrooms, staff facilities and entrance foyer. The top floor will provide specialist facilities for the exploration of the digital arts. A new Middle School cafeteria will be located adjacent to the Music School, providing an ideal social environment for student interaction and passive recreation. |
The redevelopment of Adamson Hall - Cost $4.5m |

The Adamson Theatre Company, established more than 30 years ago, has an enviable reputation for staging performances that compare favourably to professional theatre. In recent years there has also been a great deal of collaboration between the drama and music programs. The relationship between Adamson Hall, the new drama facilities and Music School will enhance all activities and provide a centre for the performing arts as well as provide opportunities for future growth. Adamson Hall will be completely redeveloped into an air-conditioned performance space with tiered seating, a new stage area, a fly tower, backstage facilities and a new audiovisual control room, along with spaces for smaller productions.
