Welcome to Season 2010

Posted 08 February 2011

Welcome to a new season of plays and musicals from the Adamson Theatre Company at Wesley College St Kilda Road. Please be assured once again of our commitment to uncompromising production standards showcasing the talents of the several hundred students who will create theatre magic for you throughout the coming year.

Recently, the ATC website has attracted interest from student theatres and professional companies as far afield as the UK, New Zealand and the USA. Some have signalled their intention to visit us and see our work, with a view to exploring the possibility of interaction at several levels, so among our audiences this year are likely to be theatre professionals from near and far. This is a tribute to the work of everyone in the Company, right down to the tiniest Year 5 student who braves his or her very first audition.

Season 2010 is an exciting collection that will present our performers and production teams with an invigorating challenge. For a start, there's Tennessee Williams' powerful and luminous drama A Streetcar Named Desire, with Thornton Wilder's equally celebrated Our Town following hard on its heels. Both plays, coincidentally, figure in the Top 10 listing of greatest American plays resulting from a recent US-wide survey conducted by The Denver Post. The blockbuster Abba-inspired musical Chess will light up wintry August with its edgy, scintillating brilliance, followed by Just So and Alice in Wonderland, two delightful musicals that speak engagingly to audiences of all ages. We also warmly commend Barnum, our Elsternwick campus musical to be presented at St Kilda's National Theatre in August.

We apologise in advance for a minimal increase in ticket prices. This has been necessitated by rising production costs; however, we know that your continuing support is guaranteed, and for that we are most grateful.

Our enthusiastic casts and crews look forward to putting together a raft of diverse entertainment that will surely surprise and delight you throughout 2010.
